How to Test Your UX Copy — UX Knowledge Piece Sketch #19

Some of the most efficient methods

The most important rule of testing your design is that you should test as often as possible. Getting feedback from your users then quickly iterating based on that feedback is the best you can do. Your UX copy is an essential part of your design, and there are some special, yet simple & effective ways to put it to the test:

  • Cloze test (or deletion test)
  • Read it out loud! It should sound like a human conversation.
  • Highlighting test
  • Explain it to your friends!
  • Five second test
  • Comprehension survey
  • Preference test
  • And many more, e.g. A/B testing, Card sorting, Tree testing, Eye tracking, Cursor tracking, One-question survey, Asking for in-app feedback, Usability testing (with preferably follow-up interviews)
