Mind Mapping for Designers — UX Knowledge Piece Sketch #24

The definition of mind mapping

A mind map is a visual representation of related concepts that expresses hierarchical relationships between the elements. You start by choosing a main concept or a central idea, then you add related aspects to that. You can create mind maps about anything really, and it’s a very useful method during the design process, it’s great for

  • brainstorming
  • organizing your thoughts
  • thinking through the initial concepts & ideas
  • planning
  • listing out the different parts of a system (e.g. objects and their attributes, and the relationships between them).
